Community-Engaged Learning

Mini Medieval Renaissance Festival: https://morris.umn.edu/news-events/news/mini-medieval-renaissance-festival-connects-students-morris-community-0 This is an annual mini medieval Renaissance festival free and open to the public. My French 1803 Intellectual Community class, a first-year seminar for new students, learns about contributing to the community and implement their learning into accessible, fun activities for children and adults.

Entre Nous Teaches You. An after-school French program for elementary school students taught at their school. This is taught by French 1002 and 2002 students who learn about bringing their education out to the community. Local students who don't have language learning in the public school get to learn a bit of French language and culture from France and the greater Francophone world.

Morris Tiger Targets. Tiger Targets are a cohort of students who have after-school activities at the elementary school. Once a week, they come to the college campus for enrichment. This is taught by French 1002 and 2002 students who learn about bringing their education out to the community. Local students who don't have language learning in the public school get to learn a bit of French language and culture from France and the greater Francophone world.
